I had a terrible experience with Mr. Handyman of Anderson on two separate occasions.Trip #1: They sent someone to help install a refrigerator in my brand new home. I mentioned we needed to move some cabinet shelves that were stacked nearby. He carelessly grabbed two bundles and threw them across the hardwood floors, damaging the shelves. Thankfully, my cabinet installer was onsite and helped repair them. I asked the tech to leave. A manager came out afterward and was polite—we agreed to try again the next day.Trip #2: They sent two younger technicians to finish the fridge install. While bringing the fridge in, they dragged the bottom edge of it along my new hardwood floors, leaving a 12-foot scratch. They also didn’t finish the job—several brackets and components were left off the fridge, and they said they had “run out of time” to complete the rest of the work we had agreed upon.In the end, the scratch alone cost $3,000 to repair. I reached out to the owner for a resolution, but was told they would not take responsibility or reimburse for the damages. No apology. No accountability.This is not just unprofessional—it's unacceptable. If you care about your home, I’d stay far away.

Jul 03, 2025 · RickI found Mr. Handyman through the Neighborly app since I use Molly Maid (another Neighborly company).First of all, I love that Mr. Handyman is essentially a one-stop-shop and I don’t have to find and coordinate a million different contractors with a million different appointments. Their versatility and depth and breadth of services is awesome, and making and appointment and getting on the schedule was super quick and easy.Josh Morley was the technician who replaced our garbage disposal, and he did a fabulous job — I give 5 stars to him specifically. You’re billed by the hour, but I got the vibe he was really working to be as efficient as possible and not run up the clock. He seemed to really take a lot of pride in his work. Just a great guy all around!I ultimately removed a star because of the estimating process. We had another Technician come out prior to Josh to take a look at the projects we had in mind, and it was my understanding based on a previous conversation that we’d be given a bill of materials to source everything on our own prior to the service being completed to save a little money. Perhaps my understanding was wrong, but I do not feel like we got the parts list I was expecting.Like YES, I know I need a new garbage disposal (that’s what I’m trying to accomplish here); but I was left wondering: do I need to get any special pipes too, or pay attention to any existing dimensions, what about cords and dishwasher hookups? We were also going to have some work done on one of our toilets (we ultimately took care of this ourselves and did not use Mr. Handyman) and we were just told we needed “a new valve.” Okay, what kind of valve? A fill valve or a flush valve? I didn’t think much of it when they guy was standing right there with me because I thought it’d take some time to put all that together and we’d get it later, but we never got it. We just skipped off to Lowes to grab a few things and hoped for the best.There were also a few scheduling and billing hiccups along the way, but all was resolved quickly and the Mr. Handyman team was very communicative.Overall we had a good experience and I would use Mr. Handyman again, I’d just be sure to ask more specific questions about any parts we were planning to source ourselves.
