Dr. Leaks: Detect & Repair Leak Services Introduce
For homeowners in Pennsylvania, particularly within the historic and diverse architecture of Philadelphia and the surrounding counties, water damage is one of the most persistent and damaging threats to property value and structural integrity. Features / Highlights
Dr. Leaks distinguishes itself from standard roofing contractors and plumbers through a specific focus on complex, persistent, and "mystery" leaks. While every business has varied customer experiences, their service model presents unique features that are beneficial to Pennsylvania property owners facing complex water issues:
- Specialization in Leak Diagnostics: Their primary expertise is finding leaks that other contractors cannot, which often requires advanced techniques and an understanding of the entire building envelope, not just the roof or plumbing.
- Integrated Service Model: They are one of the few companies in the region that handles leak detection, leak repair (roofing or plumbing), and the resulting water damage restoration and mold remediation under one roof. This saves property owners the time and stress of coordinating multiple contractors.
- Comprehensive Expertise: Their team possesses knowledge across multiple trades, including roofing, plumbing, and interior/exterior waterproofing, enabling them to offer a holistic solution rather than a siloed repair.
- Focus on Water Damage & Mold: With the inclusion of Mold inspection and full Mold remediation services, they offer a critical health and safety component alongside their structural repairs, addressing all consequences of water intrusion.

What is Worth Choosing
When dealing with roofing issues or water intrusion in Pennsylvania, the most critical factor is ensuring the contractor can correctly identify and permanently fix the problem. This is the primary reason why Dr. Leaks: Detect & Repair Leak Services is worth considering, particularly for complex or recurring water issues.
Most traditional roofers specialize in replacement, and most plumbers specialize in pipes. Dr. Leaks fills a crucial gap by specializing in the leak itself, regardless of whether it originates from the roof, a window, masonry, or plumbing. This integrated approach saves property owners time and money often wasted on multiple contractors who attempt repairs based on guesswork rather than advanced detection.
Their ability to provide the full spectrum of services—from initial Leak Detection and Roof Leak Repair to the crucial follow-up of Mold remediation and cosmetic restoration—means you only have to work with one company. In the stressful aftermath of a leak, having a single point of accountability for both the underlying cause and the resulting damage is a significant benefit. For those who have tried and failed to resolve a persistent leak with general contractors, Dr. Leaks offers a specialized, focused, and potentially definitive solution to secure their Pennsylvania home from the threat of water damage.
While clients should always perform due diligence and consider all feedback, the core value proposition of Dr. Leaks—that they are equipped to find and fix the leaks that others can't—is a compelling reason for any Pennsylvania homeowner dealing with an ongoing water issue to contact a specialist of this caliber.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1**UPDATE to Hanlon's comment below (Sept 2025):Hanlon's comment is completely inaccurate. Dr. Leaks did not provide "multiple leak detection visits at no cost." I have invoices that clearly prove otherwise. The only complimentary service was the initial 2-hour visit, which I already mentioned in my original review. No true repairs have been completed--the leak has persisted since April, and we are still waiting on a report. Despite multiple follow-ups on our part, Dr. Leaks continues to repeat the same excuse: that our issue is "complex" due to the green roof and that they are "still working" on the report from the June 17th visit. At this stage, their repeated delays and lack of resolution are unacceptable. Dr. Leaks should reimburse us for the costs incurred and allow us to move forward with a qualified professional who can actually resolve the leak.Original review below:We’ve had a long and incredibly frustrating experience with Dr. Leaks. Our first interaction with them was back in September 2023 when they repaired a leak in our bedroom ceiling. Unfortunately, by April 2025, the same area began leaking again. We contacted them, and to their credit, they offered 2 hours of free leak detection and determined the source was not related to the original repair. However, after two leak detections and $3,237 spent, we are still without a report from the second visit (which took place on June 17th) and no clear solution to the ongoing leak. Even more concerning, we discovered upon returning from vacation that the leak was still active—despite them claiming to have completed a second repair.Thankfully, we haven’t begun the cosmetic ceiling repair yet, but the fact that there has been a gaping hole in our son’s bedroom ceiling for months, with no resolution and no urgency from the company, is unacceptable. We've repeatedly followed up via email (specifically to Hanlon and Josh), asking for a basic update or an estimated timeline, but all we’ve been told is to wait for a report and response from the owner, Mr. Alex Keating. To date, we’ve received no ETA, no report, and no reassurance. This has put us in a horrible position—waiting indefinitely with a still-leaking ceiling and the growing risk of mold, which is especially troubling in a child’s bedroom. And yet we’re made to feel like we’re stuck: switching to another vendor means starting from scratch, but staying with Dr. Leaks means being left in limbo with poor communication. We truly hope to be able to update this review if things are ever resolved. But right now, others should be aware of the lack of accountability, the poor communication, and the stress this company has caused our family.
Sep 25, 2025 · Pauline PoonI strongly recommend avoiding this contractor. I observed their work from start to supposed “completion” on a project in Fishtown, and the results were alarming. A minor leak, which could have been addressed easily at first, became significantly worse after their involvement. Over the course of more than a year, the issue persisted and even escalated, with the contractor repeatedly refusing to take responsibility. I personally saw the before-and-after conditions of several parts of the job, and the decline in quality was remarkable — basic tasks were done poorly, leading to further damage. Please do your due diligence and consider other contractors before hiring this one.
Aug 13, 2025 · Blake CellumOn August 25th, two reps from Dr. Leaks came to our house to inspect a leak we had coming from our roof deck. Our contractor cut out a significant portion of the ceiling to see if we would be able to determine the cause. As of today, 10.1 not only do I still not have my report but they were unable to determine the cause of the leak since it “wasn’t actively leaking”. I reached out two weeks ago for my report and was told “they are running behind” on their reports. Do NOT waste your money with them!
Oct 01, 2025 · erika sosalskiDO. NOT. USE. DR. LEAKS.If I could give zero stars, I would.Dr. Leaks is the most dishonest, incompetent, and overpriced company I’ve ever dealt with. They charged us nearly $50,000 and didn’t fix a single leak. In fact, they made things worse. Their workers are unskilled and drag out work at $260/hour—for what? Botched repairs and misdiagnoses. We had two leaks:1. They destroyed our roof deck door area and installed a storm door so poorly that it funneled water straight inside. That cost $10K, and the leak got worse.2. They misdiagnosed a ceiling leak as a shower problem and charged $30K to redo a shower that didn’t need work—when the leak was actually from uninsulated A/C ducts they should’ve seen. A few months later? The same leak returned. And guess what? They wanted another $10K to “try again.”The arrogance starts at the top with owner Alex Keating—condescending, rude, and refuses to take responsibility for his team’s failures. If you push back, he talks down to you like you’re stupid. We eventually hired a real contractor who fixed the roof issue for $1,900. That’s less than 5% of what Dr. Leaks charged us for nothing. And we’re not alone—read the other reviews. Their pattern is clear:• Misdiagnose the leak.• Overcharge for unnecessary work.• Leave you worse off.• Charge you again to “find” another leak. They are predatory, unaccountable, and a complete scam. Avoid this company at all costs. They should be put out of business.DO. NOT. USE. DR. LEAKS.
Aug 16, 2025 · Hugh BlackI can't say enough good things about this company. My husband and I own a rental property that had a leaky ceiling in one unit that went on for 5+ years. We had contracted 3 masons, 3 roofers, 4 general contractors, a building inspector and a "window guy" over the course of time to attempt to locate and solve the problem. It cost us almost $80k in repairs and renovations...and it still leaked. We found Dr. Leaks on a online search because we were out of ideas and felt like we had exhausted options with local contractors. Every person on the team, from start to finish, was a pleasure to work with - very informative and friendly. They were able to come out quickly to water test, and immediately found numerous problems that had been missed by other contractors. We decided to proceed with their recommended repairs and after a long winter of a lot of freezing rain and ice melting, and then numerous spring storms with heavy rain and wind, we are still leak free after 6 months. We were finally able to complete the restoration of the unit and get it rented out. Many thanks to everyone at Dr. Leaks for solving what felt like a never-ending problem. Would recommend these folks to anyone with a "unsolvable" leak!
