★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This company assigned a project manager to my job that did not manage. At the first meeting, he stated he would bring over door samples and floor samples. After a week, I called him asking when he would be available to bring over the materials. He first told me, via text message, to go to a showroom and look at the displays. When I asked for other options I received a text messages of images and instructed to look at Home Depot or Lowe’s to look at the options for cabinets and floors. He failed to include my budget for these items. Once I requested cabinets above the budget is when I found out the budget. He eventually started emailing and including others in the office. I contacted the owner. The owner, Danny, responded to my concerns without coming to the site to see the condition and unprofessional workmanship. He simply accepted his project managers word, who also had not viewed the site. The project manager sent me a final invoice to be paid before any more work would be done. At that time, I had no water, pipes, or sink to use in the kitchen. The owner told me that the site was at significant completion because the room can be used at this point. I did not pay at that point. I have to contact a plumber myself so that I could cook and wash dishes. I paid a 50% deposit March 2023. The work was never completed. Two times I took off work and no one showed up. Currently, the job is about 90% complete. That took until July. I had to contact him over and over regarding materials, start date and multiple other issues. The flooring had to be re installed. The house was left messy. There are still construction materials at my home today, September 22, 2023. I eventually gave up on the project and asked for the bill even though there are still a few things left to be completed/corrected. I do not believe this company had the capability or desire to complete the work using skill professionals. I did not want to lose anymore pay due to dealing with this unprofessional company.Remember….my job is still incomplete!
Sep 22, 2023 · Danni B.I could never and will never recommend Carolinas Restoration to anyone. They failed my family as customers, homeowners, and a (now deployed) veteran in significant ways. ServePro (mitigation service) will tell you that CR is their sister company, and they will encourage you to use them. Do not use Carolinas Restoration (CR) unless you are prepared to be disappointed and discouraged. I could write a book (with pictures) about how terrible they were to us but for the purposes of this review, I will highlight our main issues. After our house caught fire, we began the restoration with CR a couple months later and to get all of the work completed took about 14 months. During those months we experienced several hardships due to the disruption and moved twice with three dogs while planning for a deployment to the Middle East. The bottom line is this project could have taken half the time it did with more competent remediation coordination and a more diligent work ethic. With CR, there was limited coordination or communication, there were weeks when nothing was done, and the project kept getting extended for one reason or another. It’s like CR did not have a game plan, the project manager did not possess the minimum skills to conduct this restoration, or just the company just simply didn’t care.Communication with CR was awful. The project manager we were assigned had started emailing status updates once a week which was fine, but when we started asking questions about job status, coordination of efforts or service delays, we heard very little and it was up to us to follow up with the project manager (CONSTANTLY). Occasionally he would text back, but majority of the time he would not reply until I sent a question mark. He had very little knowledge of project execution and organization, his execution of the project was inefficient and clunky, and the project as a whole was very poorly executed. He acted like he never had time for us, and it was an inconvenience for him to do his job and or come check the status of work. As homeowners, my husband and I had to handle several areas of his job as far as sourcing items that were to be replaced to fill his gaps. The project manager would communicate that work was “complete” and when we would go to the house, we would notice that it was not complete (i.e. subfloor was still charred from the fire and was not replaced as stated). We only saw the project manager once or twice within the total 14 months we were dealing with CR. I finally called the Construction Manager of Carolinas Restoration to try to get some traction and get our house finished up, but this did not help - nothing changed, and the project manager continued his poor/slow performance. We had several upgrades we wanted to make to the house during restoration, but the progress/communication/work was SO SLOW that we hired other contractors to do majority of the upgrades. Carolinas Restoration gave up thousands of dollars of work because of their inefficiency and incompetent service. The work done by CR was sub-par and not impressive, especially considering the length of time it took the restoration. Workers did not pay attention to detail, and when they showed up – once or twice a week and not in consecutive days – they would leave our home in disarray. There are several areas in the house that will have to be touched up because of the sloppy the work, and that will now fall to my husband and myself. If you work with CR, you will experience frustration, disappointment, stress, anger, and great inconvenience. They do not care about the customer they serve and make no effort to prove that they do either. We had to stay on top of CR at every turn (even up until the very last payment) because they consistently made mistakes and forgot about us. It was a severe emotional rollercoaster. I would never recommend Carolinas Restoration to anyone, ever.
Apr 08, 2024 · Layne RollingsThe work of Carolinas Restoration and ServPro are above outstanding.Within 45 minutes of our reporting our flooded kitchen, ServPro was on site and removing the water. Over several days they monitored the cleanup and saved us from additional damage. Their staff was efficient and timely. It was outstanding work.Carolinas Restoration made remediation easy. Derek Coleman created the scope of work and stayed with the job until it was complete. When our furniture was returned, James Winchester coordinated the movers and personally made sure everything was returned, set up and working. The company is fortunate to have excellent employees like Derek and James.I recommend these companies to anyone
Oct 20, 2021 · A. Lynn HimesThis company reached out to me after I used ServPro. They claimed to be a sister company. At the beginning of June, their contractor inspected our damage and assessed the work. I felt the contractor was knowledgeable and would work on behalf to remediate the damage and make sure it was done correctly. But then I didn’t hear back from anyone. I followed up six times over the course of a month, being told several times they’d check and call me back, before their administrative employee finally told that the contractor had not submitted his assessment and since he was on vacation, there was nothing they could do. The person I spoke to also told me I might as well get a handyman to do the work instead. I wasted a month with damage to the interior of my home because they couldn’t have told me to get someone else? Why bother contacting me initially if only to waste my time? Completely unprofessional.
Jul 13, 2022 · Amanda O'BrienThe team at Carolinas Restoration replace two outside decks and remodeled my guest bathroom. They did a great job and kept me updated with progress, since all of that work had to be over several days and then the staining of the deck needed to wait until Spring. I was very satisfied with the end result.
