The Flood Team Introduce
When water strikes in the Missouri region, whether from a sudden pipe burst, a sump pump failure, or a major weather event, the damage to your property can be devastating and time-sensitive. For homeowners and business owners across St. Louis and the surrounding areas, finding a dependable and specialized general contractor who can quickly mitigate the crisis and restore the property is essential. In the St. Louis metropolitan area, The Flood Team has established itself as a highly specialized water damage restoration service, focusing intently on emergency cleanup, drying, and comprehensive repair following water-related disasters.
The Flood Team’s reputation in Missouri is built on over thirty years of experience in water damage prevention and restoration, with roots tracing back to the aftermath of the Great Flood of 1992-1993, when the founder, Joe Tumminia, began one of the first companies in the area to focus specifically on water damage restoration. This deep history provides a solid foundation of expertise in tackling the unique water challenges common to the Missouri area, from basement flooding due to heavy rainfall to sewer backups and structural damage.
While some general contractors offer water damage as a secondary service, The Flood Team positions itself as a primary, certified water damage restoration specialist. Their entire operation—from 24/7 emergency response to advanced drying techniques and handling complex insurance claims—is streamlined for water and flood recovery. They aim to provide a comprehensive, start-to-finish restoration process, ensuring properties are not just repaired but are completely dried, cleaned, and restored to industry standards.
This specialized approach is crucial in Missouri, where water damage not addressed quickly and thoroughly can lead to secondary issues like structural damage and severe mold growth. The company provides a coordinated service, often partnering with a network of rebuild experts to complete structural repairs once the initial water extraction and drying processes are finalized, offering clients a single point of contact for the entire restoration journey.
The company emphasizes a professional and compassionate approach, understanding that a water emergency is a highly stressful event for any property owner. This customer-focused service is part of their commitment to returning customers’ lives to normal as quickly as possible.

What is Worth Choosing The Flood Team
For Missouri residents facing the unexpected trauma and expense of water damage, choosing the right restoration partner is the most critical decision. The Flood Team stands out as a strong choice for several reasons rooted in their specialization and service model.
First and foremost is their specialization. In a disaster recovery scenario, a company that focuses exclusively on water and flood damage—and has for over three decades—possesses a level of focused expertise that general contractors may not. This deep specialization ensures they have the correct, cutting-edge equipment (like psychrometric drying science and high-powered water extraction tools) and the certified, IICRC-trained specialists necessary to tackle everything from minor leaks to catastrophic flood events quickly and correctly. When water damage is involved, speed and precision are paramount to preventing exponentially more costly secondary damage like mold and structural failure.
Secondly, the company’s emphasis on the insurance claims process is a major benefit. Dealing with water damage is stressful enough without the added headache of negotiating with an insurance company. The Flood Team’s commitment to providing comprehensive claims support, including "no out-of-pocket cost" options where possible, direct billing to carriers, and expertly handling all required documentation, offers true peace of mind. They act as the homeowner's advocate, ensuring they receive the full coverage entitled to them for the necessary repairs and restoration.
Finally, their 24/7 emergency availability and commitment to rapid deployment ensure that help is on the way the moment disaster strikes. For a flooded basement from a sump pump failure late on a Saturday night or a major pipe burst during a winter storm, the ability to mobilize quickly is invaluable. Their process, which includes a free initial damage evaluation, provides clarity and a decisive action plan from the outset. By choosing a dedicated water damage specialist like The Flood Team, Missouri property owners are opting for a partner with the history, tools, and systems in place to manage the entire crisis and restore their home or business efficiently, safely, and completely.

Jul 21, 2025 · Rob Haller***Edit 09/30/25***Edit: See owner’s response below, deflecting responsibility. This review absolutely belongs here. My dealings were with The Flood Team corporate headquarters in St. Louis — the same place this Google page represents. Corporate wasn’t just “separate” from my location; they were directly involved. They even took over my Chicagoland operation themselves for a stretch, and the results were just as bad.If anything, that proves the problem isn’t individual owners — it’s corporate leadership itself. The same leadership that wasted money on gimmicks like spraying billboards and a broken app instead of actually supporting franchisees.I’m not saying they intentionally misled me - but it is clear there was zero accountability and the blame was placed 100% back on me.If they can’t stand an honest review, that says more about them than me. Hopefully if there is an issue or problem, they take better care of other paying customers.Edit 9/29/25, 4:16pm: Instead of addressing the issues, the owner threatened me with legal action if I didn’t remove this review. Tells you everything you need to know. While I can only speak from my experience, but it was deeply disappointing. The Flood Team markets itself as organized, dependable, and built for success. In reality, what I found was the exact opposite — disorganized leadership, over-promised results, and an operation that felt more like “figuring it out” than professionalism. They talk a lot about ‘trust’ and ‘expertise,’ but from what I went through, those words felt more like marketing than reality. Communication was scattered, decisions didn’t make sense, and when I raised concerns, the response was usually vague — things like ‘just trust us, it’ll all work out.’Their website still promotes this as a “great investment” and makes big earnings claims, while some locations listed appear to be closed. The polished website and sappy social media posts paint an image that’s a world away from the reality I experienced. In my opinion, the leadership reminded me more of Michael Scott — well-meaning maybe, but completely out of their depth. If you’re looking at The Flood Team as an opportunity, I’d strongly recommend doing your homework. For me, the gap between the promise and the reality was massive — and it left me financially drained, without any accountability from the company.
Sep 30, 2025 · David GonzalezThe Flood team did a very good job for the mitigation. We did not have any issue after the job was done. Blake gave an estimate, and final price was the same. We had another company estimated, and told us a loose estimate, may be more after the job is done and we have to sign that agreement. We didn't like that. Blake responded very quick and came in a few days after we signed the contract. He kept his words about days when he will be at the house. The other company told us at least a week or more. Blake's estimate was reasonable compared to the other company. He also gave us some knowledge about things which are covered under our insurance. I highly recommend him and the flood team. We will use them again if needed in the future.
Jul 23, 2025 · eileen WI used Blake and his crew at The Flood Team and once again they did a fantastic job. Very professional and they communicate throughout every step of the process. Highly recommend.
Sep 30, 2025 · Nathan MerryThe Flood team was amazing! Dan made all of our worries and problems go away on that gloomy day along with a great team! They put Service Master to shame in my book.
