Ohio Basement Authority Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Ohio homeowners, from the bustling cities to the quiet suburbs, understand that a stable foundation and a dry basement are non-negotiable for a healthy home. The fluctuating Ohio climate, with its cycles of heavy rain, snow, and freeze-thaw, puts significant stress on residential foundations and basements. That’s where specialized contractors like Ohio Basement Authority step in. While sometimes categorized as a general contractor due to the broad nature of their construction and repair work, their business primarily focuses on being a premier specialty contractor, concentrating on the crucial lower levels of your home: the foundation, basement, and crawl space.
Established in 2009 in Ohio, Ohio Basement Authority (a Groundworks Company) has built a reputation for providing high-quality, engineered solutions for foundation repair, basement waterproofing, and concrete concerns. Their mission is focused on operating with the highest level of integrity, quality, and professionalism. The company’s specialization in these core areas—foundation, waterproofing, and concrete—is vital, especially in a state like Ohio where hydrostatic pressure and expansive soil can cause common problems like bowing walls, foundation cracks, and water intrusion. They are recognized as a trusted name across the state, serving homeowners in areas like Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and beyond, with a focus on delivering long-term stability and peace of mind.
It is important for Ohio residents seeking home repairs to understand the distinction: while they may be listed under the general category of "Contractor" due to their large-scale construction and repair services, their expertise is deeply rooted in the niche of foundation and basement-related structural solutions. This focus allows them to deploy fully trained technicians and industry-leading, custom-designed products to permanently solve complex basement and foundation problems. Their commitment to quality is often reflected in high customer ratings on various review platforms, and their long-standing presence in the community, with services offered for over 14 to 16 years in areas like Youngstown, speaks to their dedication to local homeowners.
Location and Accessibility
While Ohio Basement Authority serves a large area of Ohio, including having a presence across major metro areas like Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Dublin, they maintain a focus on local service delivery. For residents in the northeast part of the state, including the Youngstown area, a local point of contact is available for service inquiries.

Their suite of services is designed to address a comprehensive range of issues caused by Ohio’s soil, water, and weather conditions. These specialized services fall under their core areas of expertise:

- Basement Waterproofing Service: Implementing interior and exterior drainage solutions to manage water intrusion, which is a common problem in Ohio due to high annual rainfall and hydrostatic pressure. This includes the installation of interior drainage systems, reliable sump pumps like the AquaStop™ Sump System, and various moisture control methods.
- Crawl Space Repair and Encapsulation: Treating moisture, mold, and structural issues in crawl spaces. Services include sealing the area with a durable vapor barrier, installing a dehumidifier, and repairing structural components to create a dry, healthy, and energy-efficient space.
- Concrete Contractor Services and Lifting: Repairing and leveling sunken or cracked concrete, such as sidewalks, driveways, and patios, using concrete injection leveling (mudjacking/PolyLevel®) techniques to restore trip-hazard-free surfaces. This also encompasses general concrete foundation repair.
- Water Damage Restoration Service: Directly addressing and preventing future damage from water leaks and intrusion, primarily through the core waterproofing and foundation services which stop the source of the problem.
- Basement Finishing: Offering comprehensive basement finishing services that utilize products resistant to mold and moisture, turning a damp basement into a safe and usable living area.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing a contractor for foundational work is one of the most significant decisions an Ohio homeowner will make, as it directly impacts the stability and long-term value of the property. When selecting Ohio Basement Authority, you are choosing a highly specialized approach over a general contracting service. This specialization is particularly valuable in a state with known geotechnical and weather-related challenges. They focus solely on solving the complex issues that arise from water damage, foundation settlement, and crawl space moisture, making them true experts in their field.
One of the most compelling reasons to choose them is the combination of deep local knowledge—serving the Youngstown community and surrounding Ohio regions for over a decade—with the robust backing of a national network. The availability of nationally backed warranties offers a level of security that smaller, local operations might struggle to match. This dual advantage means you get personalized, expert service tailored to the specific issues found in Ohio homes, supported by the engineering and financial strength of a larger company. The free in-home inspection, conducted by a certified field inspector, ensures that the proposed solution is specifically designed for your home’s unique needs, not just a one-size-fits-all fix.
However, as with any contractor, customers should always conduct thorough due diligence. While many customers, such as those who praised the professionalism and efficiency of crews like Jeffrey, Tristian, and Derrick, have had excellent outcomes, some feedback highlights potential areas of caution. One customer's experience, which involved a significant price quote for beam reinforcement and a subsequent change in scope, missed appointments, a lack of on-site tools for the crew, and ultimately work that did not match the original sales pitch, underscores the vital importance of reading and understanding the contract details, especially clauses regarding arbitration, responsibility for property damage, and the exact scope of work versus the original presentation.
Despite a few negative experiences, the vast majority of customer reviews reflect professional service, knowledgeable staff, and effective results, with many praising the quality of the waterproofing and foundation repair. Ultimately, Ohio Basement Authority offers a compelling option for homeowners seeking highly specialized, warrantied solutions for the long-term health and stability of their Ohio homes. Their core focus remains on delivering a dry, stable, and healthy basement environment, which is paramount for any property in the challenging Ohio climate.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The salesman gave me a really nice pitch about reenforcing my basement beams. I had some problems with Powder Post beetles so the advised that they reinforced half of my basement joist and add a steel locking I beam along the old wooden beam in my house. The price was originally like $9G I believe. The salesman had drawn up a picture of everything they were going to do. It looked very professional to me so we went with it.Fast forward several months. They had told me that their engineer believed I didn't need the I beam. So it would help lower my price without affecting the stability of the house. We agreed.Install day, the crew never showed up. They ended up rescheduling.Another day of missed work, the crew finally came (late) and they didn't even know what the job was for. They didn't have tools, or supplies. I had to provide my own saw for them to use. They originally quoted me the project would take several days. They were only here for one. To say the least, the work was terrible. I refused to pay until they came back for adjustments. When they came back, they did do some sketchy adjustments. But they explained to me that in the contracts they were not responsible to do the same exact work as what the salesman showed me. They didn't even do half of what he showed me originally. After looking into the contracts further, there is an arbitration clause. And they did infact say the the company is not responsible for broken property, to do the job as described, and are not responsible to adjust anything over time.Would not recommend. I'm still tempted to go to the magistrate over this.
Jul 18, 2025 · jaredPMC27Jeffrey, Tristian, and Derrick did an incredible job over 2.5 days! They were conscientious, constantly cleaning up after themselves and ensuring our home was protected, and did an excellent and efficient job of waterproofing our basement! The timing could not have been better as we’ve experienced more rain than normal and their work has already been put to the test - and passed with flying colors! Thanks so much, Jeff and team, for taking such great care of us!

Sep 18, 2025 · H GWe had Jeffrey, Derrick and Tristian here to do our basement waterproofing project in our crawl space. Everyone was extremely courteous and explained everything to us as the project went along. They did a terrific job and made sure to contain and clean up all of the dust and debris created during the job. We could not be happier with how they treated us and our home. We would highly recommend Ohio Basement Authority again.
