What is Worth Choosing: Specialized Knowledge and Long-Term Solutions
Choosing a specialist like Keystone Basement Systems for foundation and waterproofing work is primarily worthwhile for their depth of specialized knowledge. When dealing with complex structural movement, bowing walls, or persistent water intrusion, an ordinary general contractor may not possess the engineering-level solutions required for a permanent fix. Keystone’s reliance on advanced repair methods like helical and push piers and their structural focus on foundation integrity demonstrate a capability to address the root causes of major problems, not just the symptoms. For Pennsylvania homeowners, this depth of specialization offers the promise of a long-lasting solution, which is critical given the significant investment involved in structural repairs.
However, as with any high-stakes contractor, homeowners should always prioritize clear communication and due diligence. While the company's stated goal is comprehensive service, the complexity of structural work can sometimes lead to complications. Homeowners undertaking significant projects are strongly advised to engage fully in the process, ask for detailed explanations of the proposed solution, and consider consulting an independent structural engineer to ensure the recommended approach is the most appropriate for their specific home's issues. By combining the highly technical expertise offered by Keystone Basement Systems with proactive homeowner engagement, Pennsylvania residents can maximize the likelihood of a successful outcome, safeguarding their home's integrity for years to come.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Would like to preface this by recommending to consumers they check all available reviews across various platforms, including filtering for negative feedback, before settling on a contractor. Our experience with Keystone has taught us the crucial lesson of needing to consult a structural engineer before signing any agreements for significant home projects. This proactive step would've helped us address any unforeseen complications and ensure the proposed solutions were appropriate. In January 2025, (just shy of a year after purchasing our home) we contacted Keystone Basement to assess a twisting support column on our back porch expressing concerns re: its structural integrity. After receiving bids from two other companies, Keystone's impressive sales presentation and their detailed approach to a solution convinced us to proceed. Their sales team heavily emphasized their overwhelmingly positive Google reviews. We declined Keystone's financing options due to negative feedback about their affiliated servicing teams. While we sought our own financing, Keystone's persistent daily follow-ups to secure an agreement and schedule the project were overwhelming– a level of responsiveness we wished we had experienced after the work was completed.Timeline of Events:March 30: Initial project "completed" to prevent further column movement/twisting.April 5: Within six days, we observed significant bowing in the column and shifting of its attached foundation. We immediately contacted our sales representative, who requested photos and promised to connect with their Project Manager (PM).April 6: We sent photos detailing the progressive damage.April 8: No response. We sent a follow-up text.April 9: Our sales rep texted, confirming he'd emailed the Service Scheduler and expected a quick response.April 12: After three days without a response, we texted the sales rep again. He replied, stating he'd contact his PM once more.April 14: With no further communication, we called customer service, explaining the issue. They assured us someone would contact us promptly, but no follow-up occurred.April 16: Our sales rep called to inform us his PM would visit to survey the issue. It took from April 5th to April 16th to schedule the PM's revisit for April 18th.Upon the Project Manager's arrival on April 18, we asked if he'd reviewed our photos or project details; he admitted he had not. He also forgot his laser level stand and had to borrow our camera stand to complete his assessment. His conclusion validated our concerns: significant shifting in the column and foundation had occurred, warranting a rework as he couldn't identify the cause. The second visit was scheduled nearly a month later, on May 16. During this visit, our yard was excavated for the second time. The pressure in the four previously installed piers was increased, which lifted our porch. This action subsequently created large, progressively worsening stress cracks. While minor cracking might be expected, the cracks we experienced were drastic, and the second visit further compromised our porch's structural integrity.Within a week of the second visit, dirt settled not only around our twisted column but also created a sinkhole near the opposing column on the other side of our porch. Days later, we noticed settlement around the twisted column itself, exposing all the threads of the originally buried piers.Despite hoping for a follow-up to ensure the success of the second attempt, we received no communication. Concerned our follow up feedback would fall on deaf ears, we hired a a structural engineer last month to complete a new assessment where they revealed that Keystone's work caused additional damage and their "solution" was never appropriate from beginning to address the root cause of the original column twisting. We are profoundly disappointed, having paid $10,000 only to have our initial issue compounded. The timeline of photos shared here reflect the "before" (with Christmas deco up/snow on the ground) and “after” (without deco/snow)
Jul 21, 2025 · Jessie SinatraI can't speak highly enough about our experience with Keystone. From assessment to completion we were in expert hands. Our home was in rough shape; my wife and I were very anxious and worried about the work we needed. Our design specialist Jayden aleviated all our fears and even personally crawled with me through the muck; hands on first class assesment. He answered all my questions thoroughly, very knowledgeable. Our mitigation crew was just as exceptional. Professional, on task, and they worked with me through every hurdle. David, Johnathen, and Joey were just amazing. Book this crew, ask for them by name.
Aug 10, 2025 · Jeffrey Gill(KEYSTONE BASEMENT SYSTEMS)I recently required a push pier installation solution to address settling issues at my home and I am pleased with the outcome and the entire process. From the initial consultation. Your sales representative, James W. was knowledgeable and transparent about the scope of work. He conducted a comprehensive foundation inspection and a detailed proposal explaining how the push pier system would permanently stabilize my foundation. This upfront communication greatly eased my concerns about such a major undertaking. Finally, James always returned all my phone call as soon as possibleLacye was always very helpful, kind and professional. She answered any questions about the installation and billing process, and returned all my phone calls as soon as possible. She is a great asset to your team. The Installation Team, Jaun, Shannon, and Manny arrived on time. They were professional and respectful of my property and worked with efficiency to complete the push pier stabilization in one day.The Polyurethane Foam Team, Parker and Thad arrived on time. Both men were kind and professional. They maintained a clean and organized work environment with minimal disruption to the contents in my garage.Your team delivered a structural fix and true peace of mind.I will certainly recommend KEYSTONE BASEMENT SYSTEMS to anyone facing foundation challenges.SincerelyKevin F.
Sep 30, 2025 · KMFA commercial building owner in Regent Park recommended Michael Ashburn to assess the basement in a 15,000 sq.ft. building we are looking into purchasing as a women artists live/work space. Michael was super friendly and explained what he was looking for as he used various tools to measure along and through surfaces. He took his time to inspect every inch of wall, ceiling, floor, brick, block mortar and drain system. He gave us the good news that the basement was basically in very good shape. And he identified a weak area, a 20 ft. long wall that spans two rooms. It has shifted 3/4 inch with a middle bulge. The most immediate repair would be in the section of wall in HVAC room where the sewer stack pipe runs between the wall and the boiler. Between his on-site assessment and written report, Michael helped us better understand the structural integrity of the building, to make our decision. I highly recommend Michael at Keystone.
