What is worth choosing
The core value proposition for choosing Heartland, particularly in an emergency, is their all-in-one approach to disaster and reconstruction work. When disaster strikes, property owners often find themselves coordinating a restoration crew for the cleanup and a separate general contractor for the rebuilding. Heartland’s model aims to streamline this process, offering a single team to handle the entire project from start to finish—from the moment the water is removed to the day the final coat of paint is dry. This holistic approach can significantly reduce the complexity and stress for the client, while potentially speeding up the overall project timeline. The 24/7 emergency service is a major benefit, providing immediate relief when time is of the essence, as rapid mitigation of water or fire damage is crucial to preventing further secondary damage like mold or structural compromise. For Manhattan and surrounding Kansas communities, a local contractor with such a broad scope of expertise is a valuable asset in maintaining property integrity and peace of mind.
However, potential clients should also consider the experiences of previous customers. Testimonials highlight a dedication to professional service and timely, effective emergency response, as demonstrated by the account of the late-night basement water removal where the team was described as "very professional and kind," and providing a "relief to have the assurance the job will be done right." This feedback suggests that their emergency teams are proficient and empathetic in crisis situations.
Conversely, other accounts indicate that potential clients should exercise diligence, particularly regarding project management and training for non-emergency work. One customer noted significant frustration with delays, poor communication regarding ordering materials, and alleged issues with worker training for mold-related cleanup, including contamination of HVAC vents. Another customer reported a broken sensor being used, leading to an initial overestimation of damage. These instances suggest that while the emergency and on-site cleanup teams can be highly effective and professional, clients engaging Heartland for extended general contracting or complex reconstruction projects should maintain open, proactive communication and closely monitor project timelines and contractor coordination to ensure a smooth and satisfactory outcome. The company is demonstrably capable of excellent emergency service, but for longer-term projects, clients should be prepared to be an active participant in managing the details of their construction and repair schedule.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Don’t Waste your time with this company. At first I thought they were great, very responsive and told me what I wanted to hear. The guys who came and started removing that had mold on it were not properly trained. He even admitted that it was his first day and was suppose to be training. Our air vents were stuffed full of wood shaving from subfloor. I watched him vacuum them out, stuffed to the rim! That night I started having HVAC issues, called Joe and he flat out told us it wasn’t their fault and nothing they would do. He also hit a wire, they admitted to that since he was on the job, got fixed no issues. A couple tiles broke in the walk area they brought in all their equipment and never fixed. Just wish they’d take the time to properly train their team and not throw them to the wolves! Everything took forever to get done and always got the run around response.Attempted to use as a contractor and fired after waiting around almost 6 weeks for them to get stuff ordered. They always blamed other people for not having things done. I’d call those people to make sure and they’d tell me this company never sent over paperwork or got a hold of them to order anything! Very frustrating!
Oct 05, 2021 · Hannah ThyrI called them at 8:30 in the evening and they were thereat 11:00 p.m. to start the water removal in my basement. Two young men that were very professional and kind met me at my door to calm me down. They left around 4:00 a.m. I would recommend them for your clean up any time. They couldn't have been more professional. What a relief to have the assurance the job will be done right.
Mar 10, 2021 · jane shirackWe had a water pipe break at the office and it took 20 min to find the shut off valve and had several hundred square feet of soaking wet carpet. We called Restore and within an hour they were there with fans and wet and we were back in business shortly thereafter. They were very conscientious and followed up in a couple of days to ensure every thing was dry and no mold was developing. Hope I never need them again but won't hesitate to call!
Jun 23, 2016 · Mark HatesohlI had a flood at my business, and I was super stressed but Doniella, Brandt, John, and Lon made sure I understood the complete process that needed to be done, and they were there to answer all my questions in a professional but personal manor. Their were so many people working on my flood from Restore of the Heartland to get me back in business. I found everyone I worked with at Restore to be immensely knowledgeable and helpful.
Apr 19, 2019 · Nichol BraceA rental property of ours had extensive water damage which turned into major mold issues. Restore of the Heartland located the reasons for the damage and worked with my insurance company and the adjuster to repair the damages. In order to ensure the mold was gone the house was gutted down to the studs. The owner Joe McGraw was always quick to respond to my concerns and reacted quickly dealing with insurance or working through the project. The project manager James Bond had excellent ideas when putting the place back together and was always fun to be around. The finish detail he added was fantastic. They were even available nights and weekends when my schedule wasn't flexible. Working as a team with them turned this nightmare into a beautiful property.
