These environmental factors often lead to common, but serious, issues like foundation cracking, basement leaks, and crawl space moisture. When these problems arise, they require a specialized contractor who understands the unique demands of the local climate and soil conditions. This is where Ohio Basement Authority (OBA) steps in as a key general contractor specializing in protecting and restoring the lowest levels of your home.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing a contractor for major structural and waterproofing work is one of the most significant decisions an Ohio homeowner will make, and Ohio Basement Authority presents a compelling case based on expertise and resources. What is worth choosing about OBA is their specialization in the most critical areas of a home's longevity: its foundation and basement environment. They do not just patch problems; they install permanent, nationally warranted systems like the BasementGutter™ and foundation piers, which offer long-term protection against the common and destructive forces of local hydrostatic pressure and soil settlement.
The offering of a free, comprehensive inspection is a crucial advantage, as it allows a homeowner to receive a detailed structural assessment and quote without financial commitment. This transparency, coupled with accessible financing options, ensures that major, unexpected repairs can be managed efficiently, protecting the home from worsening damage while allowing for comfortable payment plans.
However, users should approach the engagement with clear expectations regarding project management and scheduling. As evidenced by some customer feedback, the process from initial payment to project completion can sometimes involve delays and coordination issues, particularly when it comes to the consistency of crews and the clarity of the initial work plan. For large-scale or essential repairs, it is paramount that customers insist on clear communication, confirmed appointment times, and a single, agreed-upon scope of work that all subsequent crews will follow. While the quality of the final installed product is frequently praised—with technicians showing professional skill in their specific tasks, such as electrical work for a new sump pump—the coordination of multiple phases and crews requires active management from the customer’s side. The core value remains high: a specialized contractor offering engineered, warrantied solutions for the most pressing structural and water issues in Ohio homes.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1John Carlson with the Ohio Basement Authority did an excellent job installing a new breaker box and outlet at our property for a new sump pump. He was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient throughout the entire process. His attention to detail and commitment to quality work were evident, and I felt confident in his expertise. I highly recommend John for any electrical work—he’s reliable, skilled, and a true professional! This company has been wonderful so far and we are very excited to have them complete their job tomorrow.
Feb 27, 2025 · Nicci SeeMy mom is supposed to be getting her basement fixed because every time it rains, her basement gets pools of water. They agreed on a price, she got some payment plan through them and has been paying a couple months already, even though they’ve done NO work!! She had to wait over a month from the initial estimate before they could even come, and the first day they came to fix it (July 3rd), the guys told her they “weren’t sent with the right tools to complete the project”, and left. So then ANOTHER crew was sent last week and the guy said he didn’t do waterproofing, he lifts up houses! So ANOTHER crew was going to have to come(So that’s now 2 crews that came but couldn’t do the job that was PAID FOR). So now they are supposed to fix it today (July 12th) and guess what?! The guy that came said THE WORK THEY WERE GOING TO DO WAS WRONG AND WOULDNT FIX THE PROBLEM!!! He also said everything the other crew said was wrong (Like the placement of the sump pump needing to be on a completely different side of the basement). THREE CREWS have now came AND LEFT my mothers home without doing ANY WORK!!! WHY are different people being sent EACH TIME the company comes out, and NONE of them agree on what needs to be fixed!!! ITS INFURIATING!! This has been going on a month and a half now!!! WHY is my mother paying payments for work that WONT GET DONE?! I WANT ANSWERS!!! Now I’m FULLY expecting them to say they have to do all this other expensive work because the initial estimate was wrong, and try to charge my mother thousands more dollars! I suspect this is why they made her start paying so far in advance, so she was “locked in” and would feel like she had to pay whatever they increase it to because switching to another company would be too much of a hassle and a loss of money (Just speculation). They also just “pop up” at random hours without notice, no calls to say they are on the way or set time or anything, and it’s VERY inconvenient. She can’t leave her house because she might miss them, then who knows how many more weeks until they send ANOTHER crew! My mother is a 63 year old SINGLE woman and has a lot of medical issues (And just had neck surgery a couple weeks ago) and CANNOT keep going down into her basement to suck up water with the shop vac!!! She’s in an inconceivable amount of pain and now she’s being put through more because of this problem that should have been fixed (3 times by now)! ITS NOT OKAY and I will be calling other companies today (and will probably lose all the money she’s paid so far). Choosing this company to do the work was THE WORST decision I could have made and I hope to save someone else from this headache!!! I will be spreading the word of this companies negligence way beyond this google review as well, because it is just completely unacceptable to do this to your customers and word of mouth goes a long way in this industry.
Jul 12, 2025 · Shannon EvansRashawn and Leland came out from Ohio Basement Authority and were very professional. The new crawl space encapsulation looks great!
May 10, 2024 · Derek AdamsOhio Basement Authority came in and fixed a horrible mess left by another company (now defunct). They fixed every problem and went above and beyond to restore my basement floors back to their original condition even upgrading the materials. I am very happy with their willingness to make everything right.
Aug 14, 2024 · MaryBeth RichmondExcellent Job and Super happy with the turn out.I had my sump pump rerouted and had carbon fiber beams installed in my basement walls to prevent further sagging. The crew that was assigned was very quick, kept my house and basement very clean (covered everything in plastic), and super friendly and transparent. My Crew:RashawnOvidLelandTrevorThe only con I have: is that my AC stopped working after the job was finished??? I tried to see if something was unplugged or knocked loose during the install and can not troubleshoot the problem. I checked to see if breakers were turned off and that was not the issue. I’m confused because my AC worked flawless before the project started. Perhaps you a could reach out to me privately? :)But that could be some fluke. (I mean it is 90 degree days in June)But this company was absolutely fantastic to work with. I’d recommend them to anyone. The sales gentleman (forgot his name) had the heart of a teacher and truly cared and educated us on all things basement related. Pick this company!!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
