I have been impressed every step of the way with Michaelis company. I bought a home that after taking up very old tile and carpet, discovered extensive damage to the subfloor and some floor joists from water intrusion and mold. I contracted Michaelis for both mold remediation and full/complete renovation of my bathroom and kitchen. They have been professional, compassionate, timely and have done impeccable work while taking care to stay in the budget I gave. Specifically Cole and Anthony. These are the best in the business. I could not be more pleased. All of the crews they employed have been representative of their professionalism. I will be using them again for any future work I may need. Attached are photos of the damaged floors and walls and then the results. Note that the floors were installed by Lowe’s from a separate contract.

The people at Michaelis were great to work with from beginning to end. We started with a very detailed and comprehensive estimate to encapsulate our crawlspace. It was obvious that going with a local company instead of a franchise of a giant corporation would yield better communication and results. They were able to accommodate our time frame and address all of our concerns. The crew worked efficiently, were very respectful and made sure we were totally happy before leaving. There was follow up after the work, making sure all was well. Highly recommended.

***Update*** If I could give them zero stars, I would. After weeks of going back and forth, they agreed that our account deserved a credit because the entire scope of the original contract was not needed. But again, why did I have to fight so hard for them to do the right thing? Unless you want an endless battle with these folks, I would use someone else. If my reviews save just one person from the heartache, then it's worth it. After all the problems we had on this job, they fought me to the end. They could have let it go, but they didn't.(I have over 65k views on social media per month. I hope it was worth it.)***Update*** Do NOT use this company. After receiving an "outstanding balance," and a FINAL invoice, which we paid in full, this company decided to bill me a month later for $3,000 more dollars. All of the work outlined in our original contract was not needed, and even though the contract says that there would be a credit back for this, they refuse. Legal services have been requested. Under no circumstances would I use this company. Pictures of original sister studs included.Imagine signing a contract for thousands in crawlspace and wall repairs. The amount is flexible, allowing for both increases and credits to be determined by unforeseen work or work that isn't needed. Basically, if you need more work, they can charge you more, but if you need less, then they'll credit your bill. Within a day of completion, we got a bill labeled "outstanding balance." It was a few thousand under the allotted amount, and this seemed correct because the work needed was well short of contract. We paid the outstanding balance and also received a "final" invoice. Now, imagine six weeks later getting a bill for another $3,000. I've never gotten a bill for anything beyond the "outstanding balance" before.NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!First, let me say that Michaelis has wonderful people working in the trenches. I desperately want to give Eric and his team five stars (crawlspace professionals). Unfortunately, this company is drowning in bureaucracy. Nick, the salesman, was also fantastic, but they just couldn't seem to get everyone on the same page. We scheduled an unusually hard reconstruction on everything from studs, walls, sill plates, band boards, and joists. This was planned by them months in advance. And after months of waiting, they didn't have the right people lined up to do the work. We had to fight daily to bring this job to completion. Three different groups of contractors or subcontractors were sent to finish the work, and only after I complained—each believing they had done the job. I hired what I thought was a group of experts, and maybe they are, but they lack communication, leadership, direction, and follow-through. So, if you hire them, great, they'll probably get the job done, eventually, later, one day...after you've lost your mind.Gone are the days when you can trust someone to complete a task unsupervised. At one point, I had to Google the correct way to sister a stud because the people they hired had done something that just didn't look right to me, and these were load bearing walls. The supervisor, also great at his job, quickly called to have them fix it. But why? Imagine them closing those walls off without adequately fixing them. Why should a homeowner have to supervise a project? Sadly, I wanted to give these folks a better review.WCS

It’s hard to know where to start with reviewing Michaelis. I could write a book,, but I will try to narrow it down. My husband and I experienced one of the most horrific events anyone can experience. On August 1, 2024 our home was struck by lightning and we suffered a massive loss. We are in advancing years you might say and to try and rebuild your lives when you are at a stage in your life when you just want to enjoy what’s left, in your forever home, to have to deal with all this tragedy involves, well let’s just say I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. But even in the darkest times there is always a light and in our case came an absolute blessing… Michaelis. They were with us from the start and didn’t leave us guessing on anything, the good, a few times the not so good, but they were honest and told us immediately and fixed it and went on to the next task. Our contractor Dave Doyle was available at all times for us, pushed us to take action when we were still totally numb and on decision overload. He even went shopping with us during a snowy day to pick out fixtures. The house was rebuilt in JUST 5 1/2 months, when other contractors said “at least a year.”’ From the moment we met Dave and Brian Ayres our gut instinct told us these are the guys, and we were right and they were!! Tears flowed continuously when we saw the finished results! We couldn’t be more pleased, we have our home back! We will always hold a special place in our hearts for Michaelis! They are the best company with the best group of people you will ever want in your corner when dealing with rebuilding, or any other home repair issues. The technical work of the two-man crew looks like it will stop the leaking in the cracked wall. BUT, the crew leader said he was going to cover the hardwood flooring leading to the basement door. He didn't. He went over the procedure with me and went back to the truck to get the material. A little later he asked if I had a brush he could use. I showed him an old paint brush and he said he needed a roller to roll on the epoxy coating; he didn't have one on the truck. I gave him a roller and he needed a paint roller handle as well; and a roller tray. I gave him both. After they finished, I wanted my paint roller handle back, but they had left it on the handle and now the epoxy was rock hard, so we couldn't extract the used roller from the roller handle. Then I noticed they had spilled epoxy on the room's carpet. I have not been able to clean it off. I have two epoxy stains on my carpet. They mixed the concrete patch that they used to cover the drain opening. Mixed it on my asphalt (sealed) driveway. After they left I went outside to find a white concrete 'stain" and some of the concrete aggregate on my driveway. I had to sweep it, hose it down, and use a broom as a brush to clean it off. Could not get all of it. So, I give decent marks for the crack patch, but total failure on carefulness and cleanup. Ads for other contractors highlight leaving the place clean. Not a part of this company's workings.
