In the Huntsville area, one name you might encounter is Arcus Restoration. This article aims to provide an overview of what a general contractor typically does and, specifically, what is publicly available about Arcus Restoration, to help our local community make informed decisions.
A general contractor is essentially the orchestrator of your construction or renovation project. They are responsible for overseeing the entire process, from initial planning and budgeting to hiring subcontractors, managing schedules, and ensuring the quality of work. Their expertise can be invaluable in navigating the complexities of a construction project, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. They serve as the primary point of contact, streamlining communication and ensuring that all aspects of the project align with your vision and expectations.
For those of us in Alabama looking for a general contractor, understanding their scope of work and track record is crucial. A good general contractor should be able to handle various tasks, coordinate different trades, and possess strong problem-solving skills to address any unexpected challenges that may arise during a project. Their ability to manage resources, adhere to timelines, and deliver high-quality results is paramount to a successful outcome.
While the goal of a general contractor is to deliver a seamless and high-quality experience, it's also important to be aware that every project can have its challenges. Open communication, clear contracts, and diligent oversight from both the contractor and the homeowner are key to a successful partnership. It's always advisable for Alabama residents to conduct thorough research, check references, and review past project examples before committing to a general contractor for their valuable home improvement investments.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. First subcontractors that came out turned out to be owned by a drug dealer, but I didn't find that out until they were fired and I saw the guy on the news running from the police, no joke. After, they hired a new company, who turned out to be the brother-in-law of the first company and use some of the same workers! Arcus acted surprised when I told them they were some of the same people who already messed up my house.Horrible quality:The quality of work I received was horrible (see pictures for examples). This was a 10 day estimated project, and in the end it took over 6 months to complete with the only issues being ones they created. They damaged my carpet, walls, cabinets, porch, bricks, tub, and more in the process. After the first round, I had the glass company come quote me for putting in the shower glass, and he literally laughed and said he couldn't do it because of how poor the tile work was. That was when they had to tear our the entire shower they already replaced and do it all over again. When they finished, the first time I used the tub, it leaked all over my bathroom. Turns out they didn't bother to tighten any of the plumbing and had also stripped one of the pipes. I had to call out another plumber to fix that. They brought out a painter to paint the entire bathroom at the end of the project, and he got paint on pretty much everything he wasn't supposed to in the bathroom. We had to scrap off all the paint from light fixtures, tub, trim, light switches, etc. They also cut the tile too close to the house so got tile dust all over the front of my house that won't come off with just water. We had to get a brush to scrub it off the bricks and siding. They also spilled the mud they used on the front porch and brick walls on the porch and never bothered to clean that up, and that is very hard to try to fix. It is still like that today. I could go on and on, but I'll save you the reading. Basically if it could have gone wrong, it did.Poor communication:The first project manager I had did very poorly with communication so they moved me to a two person team, who started off great with communication, but after a week it all died again. In between there, communication had died and no progress was being done for weeks. The only way I got them back out was to write a mean letter and send that to them and my insurance company. That finally got them back on the project. Then during the second round of silence, the only way I finally got them to communicate was to go through my insurance company again who finally got them moving. The Bill:When it finally came time to pay, it took literally 22 emails to get it straight. I had to point out all the things on the original estimate that they didn't do and argue my points there. Then they would change one thing and add another, or a value would change in between emails for no good reason. 20 emails in they sent me an invoice that, no joke, was literally one line item for the amount due. There was no explanation at all for what I was being billed for. I had to go back and pull up the original estimate, go line item by line item and figure out if they had billed me correctly, which of course they didn't. Then the last two emails got it straight and they finally sent me the final price I was expecting, but once again it was one line item. I'd expect a reputable company to send you an itemized detailed bill to show exactly what you're paying for. At that point, I was so sick of them I didn't argue because after sick months, I just wanted to be done with them.In summary, these guys were highly recommended from friends, and even another competitor, but in this process I learned they were under new management and they now do horrible work. If you know me, please contact me and I'll be glad to fill you in on all the details. If you don't know me, trust me and go with another company. These guys aren't worth the hassle, especially for tile work!
Aug 23, 2018 · Max DunkerleyI live in Madison Al. I hired Arcus to repair my kitchen. This was in September. It is now February. Their guy doesn't communicate unless I call him and when he does, things never happens as he says. They have made a bad situation much worse.
Feb 18, 2025 · Roddy WadeMy insurance recommended Arcus repair the damaged siding to my home. They did an exceptional job with the repairs. I was impressed with their ability to match the siding of my house. It was my first time dealing with this situation, and Chris, the project manager assigned to me, gave outstanding customer service! He was very informative about the repair project and stayed in touch throughout the process. If I need services again, I would 100% use Arcus and Chris again.
Feb 07, 2024 · Wesley PeoplesI wanted to take the time and and say Thank You to Arcus Restoration again for the work they did on our home. Its been a process getting to this point. Simply put....the delays were strictly due to the insurance company. However, once past that from move out to move back in was just 2 weeks. Everyone involved from the moving company to the crew laying the flooring were wonderful. Quite professional and courteous in every manner. A special Thank You to Chris K. for always answering my questions and concerns immediately. He was awesome to work with and I truly appreciate everything. He went above and beyond what was expected. I also wanted to say Thank You to Holly in the main office in Tennessee. She was amazing and so helpful to me. Thank You again and again. Our flooring is GORGEOUS and the house is beautiful once again. We are so happy to be finally past the whole ordeal and have our home back. I would absolutely work with this group again if anything ever happened to my home in the future.
Aug 11, 2024 · Sherry StoneShout out to Jeremiah and his Crew. We had a unfortunate issue with our dishwasher and our whole kitchen sustained water damage. Our insurance company sent Arcus Restoration of Huntsville out to work on the damage/ restoration process. So far we are extremely pleased with their work. Its early in the process but they saved my sub floor and its completely dried out. We found out we have a double sub floor above a crawlspace, so there were challenges there. Every step of the process was explained as to what they were doing and why. Everyone we encountered was professional and courteous at all times. They even worked with us when we could be at the house for them to check on the drying process. We found it AMAZING that they hauled all the trash and flooring debris away and not leave it for us to deal with. When the drying process was done, they even shop vacuumed the entire kitchen and then did a dry wipe down of all the counters and appliances. Then wet wiped everything down for us as well. We plan to continue the process with them as there is still flooring to be replaced and set down. We are confident the next phase and group we work with will be just as fantastic as it was with Jeremiah and his Crew. Thank you again Arcus Restoration of Huntsville for all you have done thus far!!
