Applied Restoration Group Reviews
I hired Applied Restoration Group for asbestos testing on a basement bathroom floor based on a large plumbing company recommendation. They conducted two asbestos tests in my house at $250 and conducted remediation, which was a $2100 procedure. We had some back and forth about exactly what would be done, the technician agreed to do the entire floor, then I signed the contract. No one followed up to schedule the procedure. Instead, I had to call them to set up an abatement appointment. The abatement was scheduled for Thursday but I received a notification that it was now scheduled for Wednesday. Great! No big deal as I was available both days. They showed up and started working, I kept getting notifications from the basement camera that there was activity. No big deal, there are contractors working downstairs. I had been coughing as I walked through the living room but didn’t think anything of it. They sealed the entrance to the basement so I assumed everything was “sealed” as they were conducting asbestos abatement. Upon checking the security camera later, it didn’t seem like they sealed the adjacent walls near the bathroom or the exposed ceiling as I could see the basement bathroom from the upstairs bathroom through a drywall hole from the previous water line replacement. There was a flurry of particles in the air and I wasn’t sure this from the remediation itself or if they were just blowing the basement dust around as a result of the abatement tools. I mentioned it to the technician and he said it was dust from the grout removal, which was still concerning (the site doesn’t allow uploading of video). From the security camera, it looks like it was snowing indoors. That’s not great for the air quality as I was coughing upstairs and both my dogs were crated in the basement during abatement. The technicians finished their work and answered my questions about the abatement aftercare. I immediately noticed some paint had been stripped off from the ceiling and walls as a result of their barrier. I didn’t address it at the time because I wanted to fully assess the damage. A few minutes later after a closer look, I went to talk to them but they had already left. They did not mention the damaged paint at all with me prior to leaving. I called the office and spoke to the manager about the paint damage but he basically said it’s to be expected due to needing to seal the area and that nothing could be done about it. I expressed that it would be an expensive repair to buy new Sherwin Williams paint, scrape, patch, sand, and hire someone to repaint, but he didn’t seem to care. I could repair the immediate area but aesthetically, it would look horrible as the new paint would not blend in well with the old paint. This is a large foyer wall that connects to the basement (approx 11.5’ x 14.5’). I also told him that this was never explained to me during any of our communications. I was told the seal would be on the doorway of the basement bathroom. It was never mentioned that additional seals would be needed past the bathroom. Additionally, there is paint friendly tape I (or they) could have used on the walls and ceiling to prepare for their seal had it been mentioned prior. In the aftermath (and $2,600 later), I’ve had three days of headaches and one of my dogs had blood coming out of his nose in the afternoon after the remediation. I have air filters that can mitigate dust, but as a safety precaution I am also getting an asbestos air quality test ($550) for my family’s peace of mind.
Aug 25, 2025 · Sand FacioDeserves a "0" star rating. Not only was the service poor - they didn't even fully remove the affected carpet and I had to have the crew back out to finish the job (after the fogging btw), and was told by the guy that it wasn't mold (except there were mold colonies on the carpet in question - I have pictures if anyone wants them). Then in response to my wife's review which was true and fair, they responded with lies (intentional or not) in what can only be considered harassment.Their response was wrong on several fronts.First, they did not inform us of a residue, and, in fact, told us when we noted the residue after the fact that it would go away once evaporated. And, it was more than residue - the fogging water damaged several pieces of furniture.Second, we did remove everything from the infected area and moved it across the basement - which unfortunately seems to be where they set up the fogging machine coating everything around it. There were drips down the furniture, on the tv, and the walls. The fire alarms went off.Third, when it comes to carpet replacement - and this is where the deception is fully evident in their response - they tore out a small section in one area of the basement 10-20 sqft - we had to replace the whole basement's carpeting which is around 800sqft (that was only 2 years old and we had no intention of replacing). In follow up to the experience we received a discount, but that was only after fighting for it.Use at your own risk, but know that harassment, bad service, poor quality, and deception are parts of the business model.
