Ohio State Waterproofing Introduce
For homeowners across Ohio, the health and structural integrity of a property often begins with its foundation and basement. Given the seasonal weather fluctuations—from heavy spring rains to deep winter freezes—many local residents eventually face the persistent and costly challenges of water intrusion, bowing walls, or foundation cracks. Addressing these critical issues requires a specialized and experienced general contractor who focuses on the vital areas below ground level. Ohio State Waterproofing, based in Macedonia, OH, has positioned itself as a key provider of these essential services throughout the region.
Ohio State Waterproofing is a contractor whose primary expertise lies in protecting and repairing the foundation and basement of residential and commercial properties. They bridge the gap between a standard general contractor and a highly specialized waterproofing service and concrete contractor. Their core mission is to solve the complex problems associated with water seepage, structural shifting, and poor sub-surface health, providing Ohio properties with a stable, dry, and healthy foundation.
The company’s services are comprehensive, ranging from preventative maintenance and detailed basement inspections to major structural repairs and finished basement remodeling. Their offerings are designed to address water intrusion from every angle—whether through wall cracks, floor drainage issues, or exterior water pressure. They understand that a dry basement is not just about stopping a leak; it's about safeguarding the entire structure and improving the overall health of the home by preventing issues like household mold growth.
While the goal of professional waterproofing is to ensure a permanent solution, potential customers are always advised to conduct thorough due diligence, including verifying licenses and scrutinizing contracts and warranties. It is crucial for Ohio homeowners to partner with a contractor who is not only capable of performing the technical work but is also committed to clear communication and satisfactory resolution throughout the duration of the project, especially when complex issues like foundation excavation or extensive repair jobs are required.
A testimonial highlighted a positive experience with the installation of a ventilation system, praising the technician, Jim Rushell, for his "professionalism and efficiency." However, another customer provided a strong warning against hiring the company, citing a severe, expensive, and prolonged failure to resolve water intrusion in an elderly parent's basement, with the issue reportedly worsening and involving an uncompleted trench installation, poor communication, and delays. This dichotomy underscores the absolute necessity for Ohio residents to manage expectations, document all work and agreements carefully, and ensure that the scope of work and warranty coverage are clear and honored by the contractor.

What is Worth Choosing
For an Ohio homeowner facing a damp basement or structural foundation concerns, choosing the right contractor is a matter of critical importance. The primary reason to consider Ohio State Waterproofing is their deep and specialized focus. They are not simply a general contractor who does waterproofing on the side; their entire business model is centered on solving subterranean and foundation problems. This specialization translates to a more nuanced understanding of the unique geological and climate-related challenges faced by properties throughout the region. The extensive list of technical services, including foundation crack injections, wall bracing, crawlspace encapsulation, and the installation of complex Floor Drainage System, highlights their technical proficiency in this demanding niche.
However, the decision to hire any contractor, especially one involved in high-cost, high-stakes foundation repair, must be approached with caution and vigilance. While one customer reported excellent service and professionalism for a ventilation system installation, another provided a detailed account of a "terrible and expensive experience" involving failure to resolve a water intrusion issue, uncompleted work, and poor customer service follow-up. This highlights a crucial consideration for all Ohio users: a contractor's technical capabilities must be matched by its commitment to customer resolution and honoring its agreements.
Therefore, for Ohio residents, the value of choosing Ohio State Waterproofing is found in their unparalleled specialization and comprehensive service offerings in foundation protection. This is particularly appealing for those needing major structural or extensive waterproofing work. It is highly recommended that potential clients request detailed, written contracts that clearly define the scope of work, the expected timeline, and the specifics of all warranties and guarantees. Thoroughly researching recent customer experiences and ensuring clear communication channels are established from the outset are essential steps to ensure a satisfactory outcome and to fully realize the benefits of their specialized expertise.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My elderly parents hired this company over a year ago for water intrusion in their basement, and not only did they fail to resolve the issue—they made it worse. They charged for a trench installation in the basement that was never completed, and my parents were never reimbursed. It was later determined the problem was from surface water, so the trench wasn’t even needed. After four months of waiting, workers finally came in December when the ground was frozen. They returned in May, dug around the back of the house, and made the leaking worse. When we called again in August, someone came out, agreed it was still leaking, but told us they couldn’t return until December—again. This has been a terrible and expensive experience for my parents with absolutely no resolution. The leaking and mold are now worse than before. To make matters worse, the company seems to reply quickly to 5-star reviews but ignores customers who report problems.I would strongly warn others against hiring this company. These photos are the ongoing issue even though their Change Order states “. . . we will not be trenching the inside of the basement at this time but the warranty will cover the walls and floor. No additional cost in the future to come back and trench the outside if it was necessary. Free service for 5 years of free service after the first year.”.

Sep 05, 2025 · Marley KovachPLEASE READ Before you consider this company:I called this company because I have multiple cracks in my basement foundation and my house has been sinking. Salesman (Lee) sold me the Multi-System approach, which is basically a shotty waterproof package where plastic drains are installed in the basement floor. He added in a free EZ Breathe, which has done nothing since it was installed as it is just a small fan blowing basement air outside. I was told for every interior crack I can expect 3-4 outside cracks and those would be fixed when they dig by hand to tar and waterproof the exterior. The workers found one crack outside, that is it, and it wasn’t fixed. It was basically caulked above ground. The workers only dig down 2-3 feet to waterproof, which is not waterproofed since the entire wall length is not tarred. I was unaware a second, new sump pump was being installed, as I thought my existing sump pump was still going to be used. I was informed on day one that I needed to find an electrician and get a permit for a dedicated line for new sump pump crock I knew nothing about. I rushed to find an overpriced electrician only to find out in my city OSW had to pull the electrical permit as the contractor. They did, so nobody else can do the job. I was not given the name of the electrician they used nor was I scheduled for this service when they left, note was l given someone to follow up with. The crock has pipes that go up and out of the basement, maybe 6 inches from the foundation. So now I have to get a permit and hire someone to install ground lines to the storm sewer as how they left it, any water extraction will be deposited right next to the place I need to get water away from and where the house has cracks. The last straw is that back to the point of hiring them, to fix cracks, that was not done. It looks like nothing more than paint was applied and stopped and the insulation where it was concealed. These are cracks diagonal in nature and wide. I spent 18k on this project and I will be calling tomorrow to see what will be done to remedy this disaster as it was just done on Friday. Regardless, I was lied to the entire time, spent money I didn’t have that will not resolve my problems, and now have more problems. Every step of the way I was strongly encouraged to give five star reviews so the employees will get bonuses. Btw, I could only do 59 feet ( back of house and one side). And I was told there was elevated mold and toxic environmental concerns in my basement and, there still is. No remidiation was done and the moisture is coming from the floor.
Sep 21, 2025 · Cara McCloskeyOur experience was great with Ohio State Waterproofing. Anthony was our sales rep and spent his Friday evening talking us through everything! Then Jim came out to install our EZ Breathe and was professional and helpful! Then the crew, lead by Andrew and Anthony, did all of the work in a timely, professional and great manner. Anytime we had questions they made sure to walk us through it all. Here's to hoping no more water in our basement!!
