## What is Worth Choosing
When choosing a general contractor in Alabama, especially for foundation work, the priority must be finding a company with unparalleled technical specialization. MDH Foundation Repair is worth choosing because they are primarily structural and waterproofing experts—the most critical trades needed to combat our local climate. The stabilization work they perform, using advanced techniques like Helical Piers, is repeatedly described as excellent, providing tangible stability and peace of mind to homeowners.
Their comprehensive service array, which includes everything from Basement waterproofing to Crawl Space Encapsulation, positions them as the single point of contact for solving water and foundation problems, which is far more efficient than juggling multiple contractors. They bring the expertise of a specialty firm with the broad capabilities of a General Contractor, allowing them to manage the entire process, from diagnosing the Sagging Floor to completing the Basement remodeling.
While managing any large-scale structural project requires clear and constant communication from both parties—a common challenge in the construction industry that can lead to frustration if expectations are not perfectly aligned—MDH counters this potential pitfall by offering extensive Free Consultations and Inspections upfront. This commitment to initial transparency and their consistent demonstration of diligence and high quality work ethic (showing up on time, cleaning up daily) proves their intent to provide outstanding service. For the serious structural needs of an Alabama property, MDH Foundation Repair provides the technical skill and the proven results to secure your home’s future.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Deeply unprofessional, dishonest, and disappointing. While the structural work on our pilings was satisfactory, the conduct of this company throughout the remainder of the project reflects a serious lack of integrity, professionalism, and basic respect for their clients’ homes. The team conducted an unauthorized demolition in our downstairs bathroom without informing us or seeking prior approval—work that left the space severely damaged, with literal walls missing and the entire room unusable and exposed to the elements. We were not even made aware that this had happened. In fact, it was my grandmother who discovered the destruction and notified us. We were blindsided and ultimately had to spend several thousand dollars out of pocket to repair the damage.Rather than acknowledging this mistake and clear breach of trust, the company attempted to reframe the destruction as a “customer service gesture,” claiming they were doing us a favor by not charging us for the damage they caused. This is not only misleading but deeply insulting. They will likely respond by pointing out that I was out of the country for part of the project. That’s true—but I never stated I was unreachable. Additionally, my wife remained fully reachable and would have coordinated on-site needs had we been given a clear timeline or start date. Despite our repeated requests, we were only given vague updates, and no meaningful effort was made to ensure we were prepared ahead of the work. They may also argue that homeowners are responsible for clearing the areas around pilings before work begins. While that is stated in the contract, the contract also clearly requires that any changes to the scope of work—especially those that impact cost, materials, or the structure of the home—must be agreed upon in writing by both parties. No such agreement was made. Regardless of intent, they unilaterally took it upon themselves to demolish part of our home without consent, then defended their actions with an increasingly aggressive, antagonistic and defensive tone. At no point did they show any accountability, professionalism, or even basic willingness to engage in constructive resolution. The absence of ownership and good faith is where a large portion of our frustration lies. Finally, they will claim they attempted to meet with us. In reality, the only gesture they made was a last-minute offer to meet in person—despite knowing we were managing the project remotely and had limited time in town. Beyond that, the owner himself made no follow-up attempts to engage us or address the issue. What could have been a simple, straightforward job turned into a frustrating and costly experience due to their poor communication, lack of transparency, and refusal to take ownership of their actions. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with this company—especially if you're managing the project from a distance. This is not the level of professionalism or integrity anyone should accept.
Apr 24, 2025 · Jesse RossExcellent work, very professional, I would recommend MDH highly. They showed up when they said and worked the diligently while they were at my house. Outstanding service went the extra mile to be sure we were extremely pleased with the everything. We are very pleased. The house is more stable with the work they performed. Also, they cleaned up each day before they left which was a pleasant surprise.I wish MDH did more than just foundation because I would hire them for other things I need to be done.
Aug 07, 2025 · Rachel BickerstaffI had a couple of cracks in my living room ceiling and one in my bedroom. Kyle came out to see if I had a foundation problem. He was on time, very knowledgeable checked everything out and thankfully all is well with my foundation. I was extremely pleased with the service I received and Kyle was a delight. Highly recommend this company and thanks to Shannon who recommended them to me.
Sep 22, 2025 · BAMA GIRLWhat a great company to work with. In addition to competence, excellent communication, and excellent staff, they were also very competitive with their prices. I added some supports under my house but more importantly I had it encapsulated to include French drain, sump pump and dehumidifier. Never any issues and they provide an annual examination to ensure all is still in working order at a very reasonable price. I recommend to anyone needing foundation support. Thanks to all at MDH!!!
Jul 03, 2025 · Christopher AlexanderI would highly recommend MDH. We have used MDH foundation for several major projects at our home; total encapsulation of the crawl space under our house and raising a guest house to install new foundation supports. The owner, Mike Hayes, has always been professional, honest and more than fair in his pricing. They do amazing work. His crews are knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with every time. Thank you Mike and MDH for all you do!
