★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Uses Subcontractors! BEWARE!Edit: I was by no means disrespectful! I actually was so disrespected I just called their boss.Fall of 2022 Highlander sent John to give me an estimate. I spent about an hour with him going over a system & a solution for my water problems that are now evolving into another issue because I did not get what I was sold. John was just a sales man, although he made it sound like he would in someway be involved with making sure I received the product I was paying for, I never heard from him after I signed the contract.I was then contacted to have work scheduled, I was told a minimum of 3 days for the work. Day one 2 guys showed up at 8 am. I went over everything with them in detail because they didn't seem to know what needed done despite the amount of time I spent with John. They busted up the 2 walls of my basement, including where I had the furnace removed. They told me at about 12 that they'd be back tomorrow with the rest of the crew. It was then I realized these were subcontractors and that I made a mistake. The next day 4 different guys showed up. The leader was rude, condescending and did not listen to anything I said. They busted a giant hole in my garage wall trying to get to a pipe from the previous system and instead of connecting it straight out they left piping hanging out unnecessarily of the side of my house instead of underground like I asked. They then filled the giant hole in with a putty substance that was still squishy a week later. I went down to check on the progress & was basically dismissed, lied to, and promised they'd come get me before they poured the concrete and finalized everything. A few hours later I went down again & they had sloppily filled in the concrete around the basement walls and were rushing to leave. It is still a lopsided uneven eyesore and about a foot perimeter of my floor is unusable & cracking. The drain they were supposed to have put in my driveway was underneath my garage door, crooked so one side was internal & the other external, ridiculous looking & allowed the hot $ cold air into my garage. Absolutely none of it was actually connected to the subpump. The basement was supposed to tie into a pipe after the driveway drain & enter into the subpump together. Still the water from my basement just goes under my house. The used cheap corrugated piping that's not connected to anything and used the busted basement concrete as filler. The driveway drain had a pipe that also didn't go to the subpump. While that system was in place I never once heard the pump come on. They gave me the wrong subpump several times. I had paid for the subpump with a backup & wifi. I still don't have the wifi connected pump to an app that let's me know it's status. Now I know why they don't normally sell the backup is because the water just goes under your foundation anyway. The drain under the garage door was not what I paid for at all & I refused final payment until they fixed it. Nov 2022 they sent 2 of the guys from the 4 that I requested they not send to my house to replace the drain. That was a disaster. They came ill equipped, with terrible attitudes & refused to do the work the way I wanted, I kicked them off of my property. The crew had already left a giant mess the 1st time and broke my shelves.I then spent the winter with an open gapping pit under my garage door, unable to use my garage. In the spring of 2023 they sent out a different crew and & that's how we found out nothing was connected to the subpump. Water just going under my foundation. They fixed the driveway drain so it's functioning the way & where I wanted it to. My garage door doesn't shut all the way now though.Had I known they subcontracted out the labor I never would have hired them. They were rude, rushed & did lazy sloppy, & poor work. Now I'm dealing with the signs of foundation damage & cracking all around my house, bricks cracking in half, & dry wall cracking that wasn't occurring before, which was why I wanted the water pumped away from my foundation & not sinking it.
Sep 16, 2024 · Leanne PachutaMy husband and I were very impressed with Highlander Waterproofing & Foundation Repair's prompt communication - they were the only company to reply to my initial inquiry. John, the person that come out to inspect and give us a quote, was very knowledgeable, could answer ALL of our questions thoroughly, and gave us the confidence to book them. While there was a language barrier with the crew, we were able to communicate using Google Translate, and they were able to give a good demonstration of how the system works. The crew worked a full day and a half, getting the work done faster than we anticipated. They were quick, efficient, and friendly. The quality work was worth the cost. The crew was able to complete the work without moving our hot water tank, and that initial moving cost was taken off our bill. This company seems very honest, and we would recommend them to anyone looking to waterproof their basement.
Oct 23, 2024 · Megan AranyosHighlander performed the following services for us: installation of carbon fiber straps on our bowed garage wall, replacement of support post in garage and installation of an exterior french drain for surface level water on exterior of garage wall. Highlander sent a structural engineer, Kevin, to speak with us about our issues instead of a salesman. Kevin was extremely good at making recommendations and specifically indicated which solutions were applicable and those that were not necessary as our wall was not bowed significantly. Kevin was very responsive and answered all of our calls/texts very quickly. Our crew, Steve, Skip and Steve carried out the installation professionally and were extremely polite. We had four other companies, that deal with foundation issues, review our situation for both inside and outside solutions. I am glad that we chose Highlander. See pictures below:1. Before Straps, 2. After Straps, 3. Painted Straps, 4. After Epoxy/Chip floor (Galaxy Stone)
Aug 27, 2020 · Debbie P.Highlander came and did an interior French drain in our downstairs and garage. They were amazing. They covered everything to keep it as clean as possible. They were efficient, polite, and kept out of our way. They put in a French drain, a sump pump, and connected downspouts to drain run off. They did all this in 3 days without interrupting our schedule. I recommend them highly if you have water problems in your basement. They have wonderful finance options. Great company.
Oct 31, 2024 · Carol BrandtService Tech was very professional and helpful. Josh fixed everything and was very prompt. But very upset with this company. We where first quoted $32,000 for the job being told that there would be no other fees. Then after the workmen tore down the paneling on the back wall was told it would be $6,000 more to put still beams on the wall. As the workes tore out the bathroom and rest of the paneling they damaged my hot water tank denting it badly. Soon after they completed the job it started leaking and was $2,000 to replace. They said it was already damaged which was a lie. So no help from company. The I had to hire a contractor to replace my basement step which I new about ahead of time but when he went into my basement he found a bloody puddle of water in my basement under my freezer. The workers with this company unplugged and moved my freezer to do there work and never plugged in back in. Remind you this is July and hot as heck in my basement. I lost a whole freezer of meat and my freezer was so damaged that I had to throw it out. I called the company numerous times as some woman who doesn't work there anymore told me that the company wasn't responsible. I lost over $700 in food and the cost of a new freezer. The first pump also quit working within a month and the best thing about this company was the service guy who came out to replace the pump but I did voice my concerns to him and he said he would let the owners know and I should get a phone call back which I never did.
