Groundworks Introduce
Welcome, Connecticut homeowners! If you live in our beautiful state, you already know that the changing seasons, coastal weather, and unique soil conditions, including clay and glacial deposits, can take a toll on your home’s structure. These environmental factors often lead to common, yet serious, problems like foundation settlement, basement leaks, and excessive crawl space moisture. That’s why having a trusted and specialized local resource for structural and water management solutions is absolutely essential for maintaining the value and safety of your most important investment.
We are taking a closer look at Groundworks, a company dedicated to protecting and restoring homes from the ground up, with a local branch in North Haven, CT. This specialization is key to addressing the particular challenges faced by properties throughout Connecticut, from New Haven to surrounding communities. Their expertise is backed by a commitment to quality that is recognized by an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) on a national level, reflecting decades of dedication to home repair solutions.

Unlike general contractors who may cover a wider scope with less depth, Groundworks focuses intensively on the critical components of your home's structure that are constantly under threat from local environmental conditions—heavy rain, high groundwater, and freeze-thaw cycles.
Local customer reviews emphasize the quality of their service and the professionalism of their staff. For example, John and Laurie shared their appreciation for the thoroughness of one of the specialists: "Kurt Wehmann took us through the issues with our crawl space. He was amazing. He spent over an hour in the crawl space which is not fun. He told us all the options and what he thought would be best. He answered all our questions and was thoughtful and patient. Thank you." This level of patient, detailed service ensures that you are not just getting a repair, but also an education on how to best protect your property.
Another customer noted the comprehensive initial consultation: "Although we have not made a final decision on the proposed work, we are happy with the initial meeting we had with Rob. He was punctual, pleasant and very patient in answering the many questions I had regarding getting our basement in better shape. He did a thorough assessment, took readings, measurements and documented the conditions. We felt that he gave us all the information we needed to make an informed decision." This highlights the value of their free, detailed inspections, which are designed to empower you with information, not pressure you into a sale.

Sep 25, 2025 · Michael SenoskWe had a great experience with Groundworks. Inspector Baird came out to evaluate our foundation after we noticed some cracks. He took the time to carefully inspect everything and was very knowledgeable in explaining what he found. Most importantly, he was completely honest with us and reassured us that the cracks were just in the veneer and nothing to worry about. We really appreciated his professionalism, honesty, and clear communication. It’s refreshing to work with a company that puts customer trust first. Highly recommend Groundworks and Inspector Baird!
