DocAir Introduce
In the humid climate of Tennessee, maintaining a healthy and comfortable home environment can be a challenge. The persistent moisture can lead to a host of issues, including mold growth, pest infestations, and poor indoor air quality, which can have a significant impact on both your property and your family's health. When facing these kinds of problems, many homeowners seek out a specialized general contractor who understands the science behind building performance and how to address these root causes, not just the symptoms. DocAir, based in Nashville, is a company that focuses specifically on these complex issues. They position themselves as "building science experts," aiming to diagnose and "cure" a building by looking at it as an integrated system. Their approach is rooted in the belief that simply treating a symptom, like mold, is not enough; you must address the underlying cause, such as a moisture intrusion problem in a crawlspace. For Tennessee residents, this type of specialized expertise is invaluable, as it targets the specific environmental factors that often plague homes in the region. Understanding how a company like DocAir operates, from their initial diagnostic process to their proposed solutions, is key for anyone looking to create a healthier, more energy-efficient, and comfortable living space.
However, it is equally important for homeowners to be aware of the full customer experience, which can be a mix of positive and negative. A local resident shared a detailed account of a challenging experience with a dehumidifier installation. After having a crawlspace encapsulated and a dehumidifier installed, they faced issues with the unit not working, being told it was undersized for the space, and then having a second one installed. When the second unit also failed before its warranty expired, the customer reported significant communication issues and a feeling that the company was "dragging their feet" to avoid a warranty claim. This experience highlights the critical importance of a company's commitment to its work and a responsive, proactive communication style, especially when dealing with warranties and ongoing issues. Another public comment from a local resident raised concerns about the company's parking habits, citing a disregard for public safety by frequently blocking a public sidewalk. While this is a different type of issue from a service-related one, it points to a broader concern about a company's conduct and respect for its community. These accounts provide a factual counterpoint to a company's professional mission and serve as a reminder for prospective clients to consider all aspects of a company's reputation and track record before making a hiring decision.
DocAir's physical office is located at 113 E Trinity Ln, Nashville, TN 37207, USA. This location in the heart of Nashville's vibrant urban core makes them easily accessible to homeowners and businesses throughout the city and surrounding suburbs. Being centrally located allows them to efficiently serve a wide geographic area, from Franklin to Mt. Juliet and beyond. Their local presence is a significant advantage, as it means they are part of the community they serve and are familiar with the specific construction challenges and environmental conditions of the Middle Tennessee region. This local knowledge is crucial when dealing with issues like crawlspace moisture and humidity control. The accessibility of a local office provides a tangible point of contact for clients, which can be reassuring when dealing with complex or long-term projects. However, as some customer experiences have shown, a physical location does not always guarantee a smooth communication process. It is vital for clients to establish a clear line of communication with a designated contact person from the start to ensure they receive timely updates and resolutions to any issues that may arise. Their proximity to many of the communities they serve is a strong asset, and it positions them as a convenient option for residents who want to work with a contractor who is not only a professional but also a neighbor.
DocAir offers a specialized suite of services focused on building health, comfort, and efficiency. Unlike a traditional general contractor who might handle a wide range of tasks, DocAir's expertise is concentrated on diagnosing and solving problems related to indoor air quality and moisture control. Their "science-first" approach means they use a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques to identify the root cause of a problem before proposing a solution. This approach is particularly beneficial for homeowners who have been struggling with a persistent issue that other contractors have failed to resolve. Their services are designed to improve the overall performance of a home, not just to fix a single symptom. For instance, they understand that a leaky crawlspace can affect the air quality throughout the entire house and that simply installing a dehumidifier might not be a complete solution if the source of the moisture is not addressed. Their team is trained to look at the entire "body" of the house, much like a doctor would, to find the underlying causes of a building's ailments. This holistic perspective is what distinguishes them in the market, making them a specialized solution for complex home performance issues in the Tennessee climate. Their services are not just about repairs but about creating a healthier and more sustainable living environment for their clients.
- Crawlspace Encapsulation: A key service for homes in the humid Tennessee climate, this involves sealing the crawlspace to prevent moisture intrusion, which helps with mold, pests, and energy efficiency.
- Dehumidifier and Sump Pump Installation: They install systems to actively control moisture levels in crawlspaces and basements, preventing water damage and improving indoor air quality.
- Mold Remediation: They specialize in the safe and effective removal of mold, addressing the underlying moisture issues to prevent its return.
- Indoor Air Quality Testing: Using diagnostic technology, they test for pollutants, allergens, and other contaminants to help homeowners understand what is in the air they breathe.
- Storm Water Management: They design and install systems to divert water away from a home's foundation, protecting basements and crawlspaces from water intrusion during heavy rains.
The core features and highlights of DocAir are centered on their unique, science-based approach to home performance. Their team, led by founder Barry Westbrook, who has a background as a Certified Industrial Hygienist, is trained to use state-of-the-art technology such as infrared thermography, blower doors, and moisture meters to provide a thorough diagnosis. This diagnostic-first model is a major selling point, as it gives homeowners a clear understanding of the problem and the proposed solution. Their focus on finding the "root cause" of an issue is a key differentiator from contractors who may only offer a temporary fix. Another highlight is their commitment to using their expertise to improve a building's overall health and efficiency, not just to complete a job. This is particularly relevant for Tennessee homeowners concerned with high energy bills and indoor air quality. However, the customer reviews point to a potential gap between this professional mission and the actual client experience, particularly when it comes to communication and follow-through. The experience of the customer with the dehumidifier warranty, for example, suggests that while the company's work may be excellent initially, the support and responsiveness in the long run might not always meet expectations. Another concern raised by a local review regarding parking on a public sidewalk, while seemingly minor, indicates a need for the company to ensure all aspects of their operations, from customer service to community conduct, align with their professional image. These insights are important for locals to consider as they weigh their options and choose a contractor.
- Science-First Approach: They utilize diagnostic tools and expertise in building science to identify and address the root causes of moisture and air quality issues.
- Specialized Expertise: Their focus on indoor air quality, mold remediation, and moisture control makes them highly specialized contractors for specific home performance problems.
- Comprehensive Solutions: They offer a range of services from encapsulation to storm water management, providing a holistic approach to home health.
- Certified Professionalism: Their team is led by a Certified Industrial Hygienist, lending credibility and expertise to their services.
- Diagnostic-Oriented: They prioritize a thorough evaluation of a home before recommending any work, ensuring that the solution is effective and sustainable.
For those in need of their specialized services, DocAir is ready to be contacted. The company's address is 113 E Trinity Ln, Nashville, TN 37207, USA, a convenient location for the greater Nashville community. The most direct way to get in touch with them is by phone at (615) 373-2498, which is the same as their mobile number. This contact information provides a clear and accessible way for potential clients to schedule an appointment for an evaluation or to inquire about their services. When contacting them, it may be prudent for homeowners to ask about their specific communication protocols, especially regarding timelines and follow-up, to set clear expectations from the outset. Given the nature of their work and the potential for complex projects, establishing a strong line of communication is essential for a smooth experience. Their team is ready to discuss your home's unique needs and to provide a "science-first" approach to solving your indoor air quality and moisture problems.
In conclusion, DocAir is a valuable resource for Tennessee homeowners who are grappling with the specific and persistent issues of moisture and indoor air quality. Their unique, science-based approach and specialized services in crawlspace encapsulation, mold remediation, and dehumidification provide a targeted and effective solution that a traditional general contractor may not offer. Their commitment to diagnosing the root cause of a problem, rather than just treating the symptoms, is a significant benefit for locals seeking a long-term solution. However, it is also important for potential clients to consider all available feedback, including the public reviews that point to potential communication challenges and concerns about customer service follow-through on warranty issues. For a local resident, DocAir is most suitable for those who value a scientific, diagnostic-driven approach to home health and are prepared to be an active participant in managing their project, especially concerning timelines and communication. By entering the process with clear expectations and a proactive mindset, a homeowner can likely leverage DocAir's specialized expertise to create a healthier, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient home in the humid Tennessee climate.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1In 2020 DocAir encapsulated and installed a dehumidifier and sump pump in my home. They did a great job. In 2023 the dehumidifier stopped working, it had a 2 yr warranty so it was no longer covered. I was told one reason it needed to be replaced was the dehumidifier was too small for the space. DocAir installed a new dehumidifier in Aug 2023. We had a service call on July 8th 2025 and was told by technician the dehumidifier was not working. I was told that someone I believe Ben would be contacting me about warranties and replacement. I have contacted DocAir 3 times and I did get a call back last week but the caller had no information and I was told he would get back with me on a solution. Today is 7/28, and I have still not heard from DocAir with a solution. I would like the owner to contact me the warranty will be up August 11 2025. I feel as though you are dragging your feet until the August warranty date. I understand you are busy as the gentleman stated but you have an obligation to your work.
Jul 28, 2025 · Connie LattaHow can you trust someone who disregards laws and regulations with constantly parking on a public sidewalk, forcing children and pedestrians to use the street where they can be hit by the traffic? I would not trust them.Edit after response from owner: He did not park at one of your customers driveway. HE LIVES THERE!

Jul 24, 2025 · Derik ZiperleI can’t speak highly enough of the owner and the entire company. I feel like they have saved my life. Literally.Everyone was professional. The owner came out a second time to go over any concerns about the house and what my health issues were from my home. He took several days to come up with the BEST plan to make my home a healthy environment for me. What impressed me most was they could’ve just sold me on a bunch of items and repairs - they didn’t.I could tell a difference almost immediately with my breathing issues.I asked a lot of questions and Barry answered them all. Dream company to work with.
