What is Worth Choosing Diversified Innovations (DI)
Choosing a specialized contractor for Water damage restoration service in the Pittsburgh area is critical, and Diversified Innovations (DI) provides the necessary technical capabilities, including 24/7 Disaster Response, Structural Drying, and integrated Mold/Mildew Remediation. Their commitment to offering full Building Reconstruction as part of their general contractor services means clients theoretically benefit from a streamlined process under one roof. Furthermore, supporting a local, woman-owned business is an important consideration for many Pennsylvania consumers looking to empower diverse enterprises.
However, potential clients must be aware that public feedback concerning the execution of services has raised significant and repeated concerns. Independent customer reviews factually document issues related to project management, including crew no-shows, substantial scheduling delays, poor on-site communication, incomplete work, and unsatisfactory cleanup. The accounts also cite a serious on-site incident involving a flash fire and concerns over financial accountability, with customers reporting issues with unreceived refunds and a lack of follow-up from company management after payment was received upfront.
Given these factual and consistent public concerns, while the company’s stated range of services—such as Fire And Smoke Damage Restoration and comprehensive reconstruction—is extensive, it is imperative for any prospective client to proceed with extreme caution. It is highly advisable to ensure all project timelines, materials, scopes of work, and especially payment schedules are rigorously documented, clearly defined, and structured to favor the customer, with payment milestones tied strictly to the satisfactory completion of verified work. This prudent approach is necessary to mitigate the risks associated with the management and accountability issues detailed in public reports, ensuring your Pittsburgh restoration project is completed professionally and fully.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We recently hired DRI in May, 2023 for tile and mastic removal through the owner, Richard. This followed multiple requests spanning 2-1/2 months asking for their proposal. Normally for any other contractor, this would have been considered a red flag; however, I should note here that we used DRI twice in 2020 working through Vince (Richard's son) and were pleased with their service. Therefore, we felt that we could trust hiring them again. Richard estimated the job to take 1 to 2 days max. Work started on a Friday. Richard arrived and asked for full payment before work began. Again, having dealt with DRI in the past, we were not too concerned with paying up front. However, I have to admit that this went against my better judgment. A two-man crew arrived and worked through Friday, then planned to return at 8 am Saturday to finish. They never arrived. The foreman's voice mail was full and we could not leave a message other than text. We phoned Richard and he was not aware of the crew's whereabouts either. They didn't show up until 5pm (9 hours late) with the excuse that they were looking for mastic remover which they should have had in their possession before scheduling work in the first place. Since work was not completed, we now rescheduled for Sunday morning. Predictably, the DRI crew did not arrive until 6 pm with another excuse and no courtesy phone call to let us know of their schedule. This continued three more times with two days resulting in a no-show. Every time that they were on site, we were given another excuse that they needed material or tools or some other supplies which they should have had on their truck at the job onset. While removing mastic with a flammable product, DRI caused a flash fire in our basement lit off from the water tank pilot, and this flash fire damaged a wall. The project was mismanaged from the start. We spent hours repeatedly and unsuccessfully trying to reschedule the crew. Richard was unresponsive. And by the way, he cashed our check the same day work began without any follow-up or supervision on how the work was progressing. After the last cancellation, we emailed both Richard and Vince, calling them out on how poorly we were treated and how mismanaged this job was from the start. The work that we paid for was never completed and DRI left our house a mess. Mastic tar was left splashed on our furnace, laundry tub, walls, etc., and we found pieces of asbestos tile in our driveway. This leads us to question how DRI is certified for asbestos removal. Predictably, we never received a response from either Richard or Vince, and the work was never completed. Based on this, we are owed a refund for the work we paid for. We did not deserve to be treated this way, and we do not understand why this happened. Richard is welcome to call us and explain it himself. At best, DRI exhibited poor business etiquette from the start. We highly, highly recommend not using DRI for any of your projects. However, if you do decide to go with them, make sure the payments are in your favor.
Aug 05, 2023 · Sherry PresuttiThe workers did not show up at the agreed start time, the workers left the job before completion to "get a replacement tool." (Come prepared for the job with all needed and back-up tools) 1 of 2 workers at job site turned out to be sick (COVID?) I had to call Vince the salesman to find out if the job was going to be finished 2 hours after workers left. His voicemail was full and he never responded to texting. Upon contacting the owner, I finally got response that a replacement employee would be back to finish the job. 3+ hours after work stopped, it resumed and ended at 9:30 at night. The job was sloppy, poorly insulated to prevent dust and NOT completely abated. The floor was only 90% sealed. After contacting owner again(still no Vince) the job was completed 3 days after it was begun. Terrible customer service except for the owner who was embarrassed by the work done by Vince and employees. Asked about partial refund, amount was agreed on, NEVER received anything.Would not recommend this company for doing any work whatsoever. Do not use them.
